Off to Portland

Tomorrow morning Emma, her friend Kendra, Madeline and I will be hitting the road soon after waking. We are off to Portland to visit Mistalyn. The car is packed and ready. Snacks are prepared. I borrowed my mom's DVD player. It is being charged. The movies are picked. I am SO excited for my mini vacation.

This will be our first voyage in our new car. I had big plans for the Blazer to make it another year. Didn't happen. Though the engine was fully functional, none of the windows were. And the amount it would have cost to repair them would have been WAY more than was wise to put into the old beast. When the AC is broken, the windows are vital. There were other problems as well but it was the windows that finally sent me over the edge. I had been looking at vehicles that would seat 7 and finding some that I really liked but they were above my price range and the gas mileage wasn't the best. I was overcome with joy a couple of weeks ago when my cousin happened upon a Chevy Impala that seated 6. Somehow in all my searching for a vehicles it hadn't occured to me to find a car to fill my needs. I only really needed to be able to fit five kids in the car with me. I am often with my cousins three and it was a hassle to borrow my mom's car just to take them to school. So after my cousin bought the Chevy Impala and after my window troubles I went on an Impala hunt myself. I found one. I got it! I LOVE it. My girls love it. Emma said, "we are riding in style." Madeline said, "can we leave the windows the way that they are?" So funny. And I am sure the mother of another of Emma's friends, the friend who's door flew open while we were on the road one day will feel better about letting me take her daughter home with us. She was very concerned about the Blazer. Having this new car makes me want to call my friends and ask them to let me babysit so I can drive around with five kids just for the fun of it. Poor Jack, the car is so clean I don't want to let him in.

It is almost midnight so I should hit the sack. Perhaps I'll get some pictures while away that I can post. We'll see...
