Night Time Melt Downs...Not Just for Kids!
It is hard to feel like an effective parent when at the very end of what felt like a pretty good day I am lecturing my kids...both of them at the same time, for different reasons and they are both crying (not the kind of cry that brings out understanding and empathy but the kind that makes you feel frustrated and maybe a bit like collapsing. Madeline was actually watching herself in the mirror while she cried and modifying her facial expression to get the affect that she wanted). It is like 3 starving people trying to choose a restaurant in traffic, a lose lose situation. It is hard to bring peaceful, smile producing resolution to conflicts that occur when I am out of energy.
Before Emma went to sleep we reached an understanding, we reconnected. And Madeline is fine now too, but even after an hour and 25 minutes she is still awake. She has always fought sleep. I think I just heard her door close which means that the light has been turned on. Last time I checked on her she had opened up her bubbles and she was blowing them in her room.
*I was in the same room as the girls as they ate breakfast.
*I've made it out of bed by 5am the last 2 mornings.
*I've been walking for the last 3 mornings :).
*I've been making it to bed by 9:30 :).
*I played a game with the girls tonight :)
*I drank coffee with a good friend at D&M
*recent life events added with the purpose of ending this day's blog on a positive note :)

Thanks for the postive notes at the end. I was almost convinced that your life totally sucked, but then there were those gems of positivity! ;)
*note- don't feel like you always need a positive note.
-but throw them in if it's what you want to do and if it helps YOU. :) Have a beautiful day!
