I'm back :)

The past two weeks have been busy beyond my tolerance. Centrals quarter started two weeks ago. The first week of the quarter is always chaos, trying to get your bearings. After a busy week, I spent most of the weekend in Seattle. I had intended to just be away for one day in Seattle but because the roads were so bad I ended up leaving early and then getting stuck on the pass on my way home. The short trip ended up being a long trip. Without a lot of recovery time, week two started and zipped by.

But, as of today, I feel like things are back under control. I woke up with a feeling of being on vacation. I laid awake in bed for 2 hours before I made my self get up and do anything. Emma has a friend over and all three girls independently put together their own breakfasts. Heaven!

Something crazy, last Wednesday I had my first glass pan explosion experience...hopefully my last. I'll be smarter next time. I had set a glass lasagna pan on the stove. I had accidentally left one of my burners on low and it wasn't visually noticeable. I picked up the glass pan to put it away and noticed that it was radiating a lot of heat. I was carrying it around chatting with my friend who was over about how glad I was that I didn't grab the pan by the hot spot and burn my hand. Then I commented that I was lucky that I caught it when I did because it could have exploded. Immediately after that comment the pan exploded in my hands. All three girls and my friend were in the kitchen with me. I felt glass hit me from head to toe... the kitchen was showered with it. I was panicked that the girls would have glass in their eyes but miraculously everyone was fine, even my friend who was standing directly in front of me. Emma's friend did have a small cut on her arm and I had a couple of itsy cuts on my hand but that was it. The glass covered about 3/4 of my kitchen. It was a BIG clean up job.

Here is some of the glass

The plants on the counter caught their share of it...

I'll be sure to send the kids out of the kitchen if I am to find an extremely hot glass pan on the stove again....and I'll follow them. Maybe I could just stop leaving burners on...

I'm off to an enjoyable Saturday. I'm having family over for dinner and I'm making my new favorite, BBQ country style pork ribs. Thanks for the "how to" Nicole.

Oh my gosh! I have never even heard of that before! You must have known that it could happen. Kudos to you for even having an idea! Knowing me, I'd have had one of my kids carry it over to the sink. Yikes!

Welcome back. It's good to hear from you again. ;)

wow I am glad you were not hurt What a suprise. I had one explode when I set it on a counter that was cool without a pad under it but figured it wasthe hot glass hitting the cool counter that did it. so be careful.
